Hi I’m Jess and I woke up this morning reminding myself that I have the best job in the world. I spend my days creating beautiful photographs and telling the stories of people’s lives. I meet so many amazing people and in doing so discover the differences that make everyone special.
I decided I wanted to become a photographer early on in my Fine Art degree. I started out using film and it was the closest thing to magic I had ever seen. Developing my own prints and seeing the image appear fantastically on the paper was a joy to witness and something that still gives me goose bumps. Digital technology opens a whole new world but it doesn’t have quite the same mystery and romance.
I love what I do and like to make it fun and enjoyable for everyone I work with. I don’t take myself too seriously during my shoots and as a result get the relaxed photographs I am after. Getting to know who you are is one of the most important things I can do as a photographer. Whether you are an excited and nervous wedding couple or a family with beautiful kids, my aim is to capture what it is that makes you special, creating the “wow, that’s really us” feeling, when you see the end result!
Growing up in the Lake District constantly surrounded by nature, I try to bring this in to my photographs any way I can. I love the smell of the countryside (even in muck spreading season) and can often be found walking about barefoot on freshly cut grass. I live on the outskirts of Kendal with my amazing family and the most spoilt Labrador you have ever met. Other special things in my life include peanut butter and jam sandwiches and my Mum’s mac and cheese (the burnt bits are the best)!
